Big bow + Snowscene = True!
Woke up on sunday and felt that yes, I probably have a hole in one of my teeth... so the collective went on a road trip to Karlstad to get pierced!
Our friend Erika is a piercing apprentice, so I found it convenient to make another hole in my mouth. Nothing visible though!
Been dying to try out my new eye shadow palette. And also the lippie combination I used today. I swatched Big bow on my hand and tried it out with a few glosses on top. That's a great way to find inspiration. Todays choice of eye colour was piched from the glitters I found in this lippie combo.

Anyway, I realy felt like a purple makeup... but today I couldn't find my primer! What is up wth me losing it all the time?
Don't know how I'll pull off tomorrows makeup with "sharkskin" as a base... hm.

Shopping schmopping
Did you think I managed to leave the MAC counter empty handed after the makeup yesterday?
Oh no siree! I did not. I picked up the "Too dolly" palette and "Fun and games" beauty powder blush. I almost got the "deep blue green" pigment too, but my card was failing again (2/3 of my purchases aren't approoved, so weird) and so I lent some money from my roomie.
Oh, and that's another fun thing! :D
I brought my roomie and her daughter, who insisted of holding both our hands the whole day, making us look like a couple. In Sweden we have several words for how you live, measured by social status.
E.g. Sambo = an unmarried couple living together, Kombo = friends living together, Mambo = living with your mother and so on.
Once my roomie reffered to me to a salesman as "my sambo blablabla and she" and the salesman justlost focus and she could tell he was thinking "ok, hold on, is this girl gay?" and we've been joking about it ever since.
Today, walking around in town, both of us holding my roomies daughters hand was like taking that funny story to a whole new level!
Ok, ok, I know you're here for pics and swatches of my shopping, so here they are!
Oh! I also picked up this little darling thing from a trusted e-bay seller! :D
PS: don't buy MAC off E-bay or Tradera unless you know who or what you're dealing with, 99.99% of it is fake!
Swatches of all the lippies below. Plus "nice to be nice" lipglass. Swatches of the eye shadows are coming... when I find my yet again lost eye primer.
Sunday; I've returned
Ok, so the plan was to take the Thursday night ferry to Finland and go to the funeral. Didn't feel very well on Wednesday, and woke up with fever on Thursday morning, that lasted until Friday evening. Double angst and sorrow, for being ill and missing out on the funeral. Cried a lot during thurs-fri and my eyes are still swollen from that... Also I got a MAJOR breakout when being ill, and I'm still trying to get rid of it :/
But I feel fine now. Been out playing with the three year old, met up with dad in town for a fika (why isn't there a word for that in english?) and got a makeup done by the MUA Åsa at MAC Åhléns city :D
A great day, and what a celebration for getting well!
Åsa asked if I wanted a colourful or a smokey makeup. Those of you who've come to know me will probably guess my answer, right?
All in one! Ha ha, I had such a hard time to decide. The Hello Kitty event ended today, but during the event you could book a 30min free makeup. I woke late so I didn't put anything on, but let Åsa do it all... so I don't remember exactly what she used, but what I remember from the eye makeup is:
MAC paintpot as a base (don't remember what shade, sorry! but some pale greenish colour)
MAC pigment "deep blue green" on the lid
MAC eye shadow "too dolly" from the "too dolly" palette in the crease
MAC pigment "milk" as highlighter
MAC eye shadow "romping" from the "too dolly" palette under the eye
MAC eye shadow "stately black" from the "too dolly" palette under the eye
On the pics I have "fast friends" on the lips, but I know Åsa used another lippie. Think it was "Sweet strawberry" but I'm not sure. It was really fun to let someone else do my makeup for a change :D
Lucky day!
Wohoo! Go me, I found my primer! Phew, now I won't have to buy a new one :P
Today is teal, green and golds yet again!
This weekend I'm going to Finland for the funeral... so I don't know what possibilities I'll have for updating. Or if I'll even feel like it. We'll just have to see. Right now I feel like I could use an escape from the heaviness of the funeral and everything related to it.
Lucky day today, though. The sun is shining, great makeup, the client presentation went very well, got excellent feedback, tasty lunch, and now I'm preparing the presentation for my classmates tomorrow. Today is nice, so I just had to have "nice to be nice" on the lips :)

I was a bit stressed today because I had too much planned for the day. First up was a client meeting, which went very well. Then I cancelled the rest of the activities for today. Just felt completely off and odd, so I went home to have a nice and quiet day at home... felt a bit boring in this makeup though... I had MAC "blow dry" lipstick first but changed it to "most popular" and felt a bit happier after that.

This weeks shopping...
I've had real trouble keeping my fingers off my wallet and leaving it alone. So now I'm poorer than ever! (poorer, is that a word?)
But money makes you happy, when you can spend them! So I bought a necessity and some fun stuff from the Hello Kitty-collection.
First off I've run out of the MAD minerals piment "ruffles" that I have used as a sculpting powder (you can read about how I use sculpting powders
here) so I had to replace it with something... and thanks to the tips from members of Pret-ty.se I ended up with the MAC blush "strada".
From the HK-collection I bought three lippies: the lipstick "Most popular", and the glosses "Fast friends" and "Nice to be nice". I'll swatch them for you later :)
Meanwhile take a look at this CUTE imprint on the lipstick! :D

Heavy update! Three times brown.
I haven't updated in a few days, as you might have noticed :P
This weekend I entered the
Young Lions competition and the deadline was set to Monday at 4 pm. So I had so much to do, and so little sleep that Monday and Tuesday afternoons and evenings just went by. I'm beginning to recover from the exhaustion and excitement... that's why I look so tired and angry in the first two sets of pictures btw :P
Now I'll give you the update for these last days make up. I've been sleeping at my bf's flat because it's much nearer to school and I only broguht my highlighter palette (my own combo put together in an empty MAC quad palette) and the warm eyes palette and the cool eyes palette that I recently got.
So, quite neutral and dull for the colour-loving me, but also a bit relaxing :)

I don't know how many of you readers who twitter. I do, and I twitter a lot. Not as much about beauty but of what happens around me. I like getting to know the bloggers who's blog and what they do besides blogging. Maybe that's just me, but I thought this Twitter-widget might be fun.
What do you think? Disturbing, fun, or would you rather just follow me on twitter? Are you more interested in beauty tweets?

Prismatic FOTD
Todays makeup is a pretty rainbow! But not on the eye lid but under the eye!
I'm wearing the cutest black top with grey/white diamonds printed on it, so I matched the make up on the lid with the top, but it felt so boring... so I started to think of prisms and hence: the rainbow under my eyes!

MAC prep+prime lip, how good is it?
Ok, so yesterday I tried out the lip and the lash primers from MAC for the first time. My first impression of the lash primer was a catastrophy, but later in the evening I did a completely new makeup for a night out. It seems you just need some practice with it because the second time was a lot better than the first.
The lip primer I loved from start. After I took the pictures for the FOTD I had a cup of tea and ate breakfast... and my lips looked newly painted after that!
So, how long did it last?
Well, eight hours, two cups of tea and two meals later my lips looked like this:
(the newly painted lips, for comparison)
As you can see the colour has worn off a bit and the shine is completely gone. Still my lips felt soft and smooth. And the lipstrick hadn't feathered at all! WOW
This lovely product is really something I recommend! To all of you, but especially those of you who love to wear bright or dark colours on your lips. Once you start with the primer you won't have to do any touch ups... how great isn't that?!
If you still worry, you can always line your lips with a skin toned matte eye shadow around the edges of your lips. That'll really stop the lipstick from feathering!
But how about wearing off? Eating and drinking?
This is really funny, because at my last work we had a girl who was completely addicted to glittery lipgloss. She always made touch ups, and no wonder because she also drank lots of coffe. And every time she got a new cup. So in the end of the day she's have like seven cups on her desk. And all of them were pink and glittery around the edge. And this glitter would never come off no matter how much you washed the cups, so the glitter spread onto the lips of every one in the office!
Well, when drinking someting: no matter what you have on your lips, always lick a little of the glass/cup before drinking and you'll prevent the glass from being stained and your lipstick wearing off.
Hello Kitty!
Oh yes! Finally! On monday the Hello Kitty-collection from MAC will be released in Sweden!
How I've longed for it. Haven't you?
Oh, and did you know that during week 13 there will be a Hello Kitty event at MAC Åhléns City? I found out yesterday. Thursday to saturday there will be the kitty-man (or hunk, I'd say judging from
Rocketqueens pictures) and he'll be serving us cookies!
Also, during the week you can sign up for a free 30min make up with the new Hello Kitty products, free of charge. How great isn't that? Make sure you stop by, or call, the MAC counter at Åhléns to make an appointment! :D
Colourful saturday lion.
Today and the rest of the weekend I'm a lion. Will tell you about that later... because now I'll tell you about my colourful makeup! I'm not at all satisfied with the eye shadow. I just fumbled and it ended up nothing like I planned. Still, I think it looks good but it's not at all what I wanted.
Tried out MAC prep+prime lip and lash. My first impression of the lash primer is... gah! Why did I buy it?
I really really don't like the brush. It makes my lashes clump together and look like spider legs, and my mascara couldn't fix it. Don't have a lash comb either.
Well, this was just the first time. Maybe I need some practice with it. We'll just have to see!

I just slipped by MAC and uh... accidentally bought a lip- and lash primer. Got to see a cart full of Hello Kitty goodies! Om nom nom, how I long for that collection.
Also, I got signed up for a free makeup. I love the MUAs at MAC, talking to them is like talking to old friends.
Bother only that I got so overexcited that I forgot I'm not home that Saturday. Will have to call or visit them tomorrow and try to book it to the Thursday or Sunday instead... I'm in Finland for the funeral that Saturday :/
Anyhow! There will be another post in the primer-series ;D
Fancy friday!
Today is Friday, and just as all Fridays (since we invented it) it will be FANCY!
In this make up I used one of my favourite pigments from MAD minerals: electric blue. I don't think I've shown a makeup with this pigment in the blog until today. Crazy!
If you're thinking of buying any colour from MAD minerals, I really recommend Electric blue. It's the loveliest shade of intense blue with a hint of turquoise in it. Also it shimmers in green and gold and blue. It's not turquoise, it's not teal, but it's not pure blue either.
It glitters like the sea on a beautiful summer day...

Bored browns
Today I almost felt like not doing any make up. I felt so bored! And stressed because I woke a little late. So I did this brown themed eye makeup with the warm eyes palette... and suddenly I didn't feel quite as boring as I did before the makeup!
Then I had to run to the train... only to find out at the station that I was in fact not late, but an hour early!
Jumped on the train and went to school. Bought breakfast on the way, cleaned the kitchen (in school!) and then sat and ate in peace and quiet.
Ok, not too quiet. Listening to music :P

A late Monday update...
I really want to update with a FOTD in the morning because that's when my make up is newly done and fresh. And I'm fresh, though usually a bit sleepy. Today I took the pics 12 hours later than tha make up was put on. And I took these pics with my brand new camera! Wohoo, no longer am I dependant on others borrowing me their cameras.
Now I am so very very poor, so I won't be able to afford that lip primer and lash primer as well as the Hello Kitty stuff... nu-uh, not this month. You saw the motherlode of shopping I did last week, right? That plus the camera will be the reason I'm going to live of noodles for the rest of the month. That and carpet beetles.
My roomie found carpet beetle larva in the kitchen today. So this weekend I have three things to occupy me, the blog not included:
1. Decontaminating the kitchen from larva.
2. Going out, clubbing.
3.Enter the Young Lions contest!
Anyhow! Larva aside. Yesterday Purity was purple. Today is my purple day!

My new camera's so great you can even see the wrinkles under my 22 year old eyes! :D This is fantastic!
The Primer Story: the show must go on!
I know I should have posted images of what the make up looked like in the end of the day. I've been borrowing my roomies camera for ages, but then I found the same camera really cheap so I thought I could buy it before the "fashion show" yesterday.
Usually stores in Sweden are open to 5 or 6pm even on sundays. But that store that had my camera closed 4 pm! And I was there five minutes too late, so I couldn't get any "after" pics.
BUT!
Next week end I will do this again. With lash and lip primer, and pictures from the end of the day to compare with :)
How necessary is a primer? Really?
Today's make up was a real challenge. Why?
Do you remember my promise to do half my make up with and half without primer? I only do face and eye primer, so today I cut out the primer from half the face when doing my make up... and suddenly it was a lot harder to work with it!
Also, today eing the international womens day I had promised my mum to do a charity thing with her. The church she's in runs a small second hand shop and it's really popular... and today the church had an event for women where mostly elderly women attended so this was a fun thing organized for them. There was singing, dancing, coffee and cakes and... a fashion show!
My sister put together an amazing fashion show with clothes from the second hand shop. We were ten "models" in varying ages that showed a few really cool outfits each. I'm impressed with the cool stuff they had and really glad I joined in. The old ladies were so much fun!
Anyhow, I wasn't sure I could pull this thing off, if my primer-less half of te face would slide off and I'd have to re-do the make up or what.
So, how did it ho? Read on!

I will guide you through every step of the make up. Leaving half the face without make up you can easily see what the difference is. And it's great, with just little means. In the final pics my whole face is done, but the left (previously left without make up) part is done without any kind of primer products.
Here I just put on the primer on the right half of the face (right in the picture). I usually just pump out a small dab once from the bottle, but now I used only half as much as I usually do. The primer I use is MAC prep+prime face. It makes all red tones a little less red and vibrant, it feels a bit soothing. Also, it's like a protective layer between your make up and your skin. It protects the make up from sliding off, and protects your skin from getting irritated by the make up.
Here I added my MAC Studio sculpt foundation. I apply it with my fingers, just as with the primer. I dab it on to my face so that Iook all spotted. Then just smooth it out over the face, With my fingers again. I always clean my fingers before I start, and between primer and foundation.
Here I added powder to the foundation. First I applied a coat of MAC blot powder with my MAC 182 kabuki brush to fixthe foundation. Then applied a thin layer of MAC mineralize skinfinish powder on top, with the same brush.
The most important thing about kabuki brushes is that you have firm and comfortable bristles. I find the ID. bare minerals brush too harsh on my skin, like it's skratching my skin.
Anyhow! The MSF isn't matte, but neither shimmery, glittery or shiny. It just gives your skin a healthy glow that your skin has normally, but that fixing powders usually takes away.
Here I applied Make Up Store blush "mission" on the apple of my cheeks. Fire off a broad smile and brush a little blush from the apple of your cheeks to your ears. You just want a hint of rosyness, if you get too much of the good, use your powder brush to brush the excess off.
After that I appled MAD minerals pigment "ruffles" as a sculpting powder.
A sculpting powder should be just a little darker than your skin tone. Apply with a firm brush (I use an angled brush) below your cheekbones, on the sides of your nose, on your temples and under your jaw bones. This gives a little more depth to your face by enhancing the shadows in your face.
If you want to hide a wide nose or a big chin add some on the sies of your nose or under your chin. Have a broad face? Swipe some on the sides of your face or temples. Simply play around and see what effects you can create.
The same rule applies here as with blush: you should only see an indication of the colour. If you can see the effect clearly: you've used too much :)
After that I applied MAD minerals loose powder "flash glow! on my cheek bones, the same way I applied my blush but a tiny bit higher up. I use one angled brush for blush and shading, another one for highlighting.
Let me know if you'd like to see more clearly how I apply this, and I could paint or make a video tutorial :)
With all that said, your base is finished! Now it's time to play around with your eye make up!
Here I applied Urban Dacays "eye shadow primer potion" on the whole lid and up to the brow.
Then MAC eye shadow "shroom" as a highlighter from the crease up to the brow and from the inner corner of the eye and out towards the sides of the nose.
Taylor Made Minerals pigment "Sunflower" on the inner half of the lid, Make Up Store "Deadly" along the lashlines and in the crease. MAD minerals pigment "Cat's eye" on the outer alf of the lid and blended into Deadly and Sunflower. Also I put Cat's eye along the lower lashline (on top of Deadly).
Finished off the eyes by painting a thin line of Lancôme liquid eye liner (the waterproof black one) along both lash lines. The easiest way to paint on the lower lashline is by painting it from abobe, like an eye liner that you'd put on the water line, but instead paint or dab it on the roots of your eye lashes.
Then I curled my eye lashes with the incredibly cheap H&M lash curler and put some MAC plushlash mascara on. The pluslash has an oval brush, and if you hold it so that the longer side faces your eye the brush will paint on your eye lashes twice and comb through them twice. In one sweep! That's [beeeeeeeeep] GREAT!
I used to wear Lancômes Hypnôse mascara, and I thought it unbeatable. Then I tried MAC plushlash and I have no intention of ever trading back.
Also I used a small and thin angled brush from Make Up Sore to apply the lightest colour fron Make Up Stores tribrow palette.
So, how did primer vs. no primer turn out?
Face: With out the face primer it felt like I had to really rub (and that fast!) the foundation in so that it didn't dry in small flecks on my skin. I always dab it on in little dots all over my face, and then even it out with my fingers. With primer my foundation just glides on smoothly. Without it wasn't quite as smooth but it worked.
How about the rest of my face make up? Well, neither the blush, shading or highligting products really wanted to stick. Had to use lots of them but still didn't get the same effect a s on the other half of the face. So I gave up and let my make up be a bit (ha ha) uneven.
Eyes: With primer your eye shadow sticks well to your eyes. Some think that they get harder to blend, but to me I just use a little more. Usually I put on the colours in fields, and then use one colour and blend in to the next. Never had any problems that way!
Without primer? Simply couldn't get the colours to stick! Got so frustrated, tried using more and more and eventually got some of it to stick by dabbing it on, not brushing. The MAD minerals pigment "cat's eye" wouldn't let itself be dabbed on, it just fell off and took the others with it.
With a primer you use more products (different) but withot primer you end up using more products (volume)!
I really recommend using primers!
You can see the final result below :)
This post turned out really long, but I hope it was a good help and guide to some of you! :)
The make up stayed in pretty much the same place as when I applied it. Well, the face make up at least. The eye make up.. it looks good when my eyes are open! :P
So: If you're thinking of buying MAC Studio sculpt foundation but don't want to buy the primer... go ahead! But make sure to buy the blot powder to go with it because, primer or no primer, the blot powder is what makes the foundation stay in place!
Swatches
I thought I should swatch "Spring bean" for you, since it looks bright green in the packaging... you're a bit sceptical, right? Well, I tried it with no expectations, and it's a lovely golden tone to your lips once it's on. No green, no colour, just a bit of golden warmth.
It's the loveliest colour actually. Next time you go to MAC, try it on!

Soft Thursday
It's been a few rough days, not really being able to relax. Yesterday was busy, with a client meeting, but today will hopefully be a bit softer on me with a full day lecture/workshop with Jonathan Briggs... but that's stuff for my other blog (the one you find if you skip "supreficial" in the blog address).
Anyhow, the day before yesterday I went to MAC to try out some lippies from Creme team that I didn't try last time... and too bad for me I didn't! The light purple lippies were sold out. Instead I bought "lickable" lipstick and "petite indulgence" cremesheen glass.
Also I bought the "red devil" lipglass from BBR and "spring bean" lustreglass. And "sattelite dreams" eye shadow for my purple palette.
Theres still loads I want from BBR and Creme team, but I've gotta save... ahem... some money for food and the Hello kitty-collection :P Maybe I should have waited with the permanent product until later and sticked to the LE's... but I couldn't.
Well well! Since I did so heavy shopping I got a freebie! When you shop for more than 1000sek at MAC Åhléns in Stockholm you get a free Colour forms-palette! Cool huh?
I wanted the warm one, but they were out of stock on that one so I got the cool eyes palette. Then they found a tested warm eyes palette (didn't have the brush either) and gave that to me too! That's just too sweet of them!
So, here's yesterdays FOTD with the cool eyes palette. I took the pictures in the evening, so the make up had been on for 13hours already, and no touch ups made during the day!

A break
Hello world.
I'm taking a pause from the blog. I was just on my way up. I've been feeling low because of my skin, but school just turned interesting again and I started to feel energized. Today I had a meeting with my group and for once brought my cellphone to the meeting (just in case our client would call) and I got a text message. From mum. I joked that it wasn't anything important and that I could read it later. And I'm kinda glad I did so that I had time to focus on our assignment.
Just when I was heading home I checked my phone and rememberd the text message!
A relative died yesterday. I never knew my grandmother, she died long before I was born. But Rakel was my grandmothers sister and the closest to a grandmother I've ever had. I loved her so much, but didn't tell her nearly enough.
So I'm taking a break from the blog. My wish is that you tell all your loved ones how much you care about them. Give them a hug or a call. They deserve it!
Lots of love to you all
/Maggie
Make My Monday
This is my reply to Bjootis post "Make My monday v.10" where she asks her readers to tell what (swedish) online stores we use to shop make up.
Thinking about my online shopping habits, I found that I seldom buy anything at all from swedish online stores. By swedish I mean online shops that are registered in Sweden and have their stores located here.
Why do I prefer foreign online shops?
The answer is this:
Swedish online stores are usually more expensive than foreign, both when it comes to product prices and shipping.
The swedish postal service is slow.
The supplies aren't as big and varied as with most foreign online shops.
So when do I buy from swedish online shops?
Actually I've only shopped twice from swedish online shops. Once was at Beautyplanet since they had a campaign about a year ago, where sold Lancôme mascaras for 99sek and the other time was from Ninja minerals in December when I bought two ninja loot bags as christmas presents for my sisters.
When I need a service that I can't get online, then I go to stores. Since foreign online shops are so much cheaper I use them rather than swedish ones because I've never had any trouble at all communicating in english. Otherwise I go to stores. I love shopping and actually trying things before I buy them, and if I need advice on how to use them. But that's mostly for make up ;)
How much do I spend on make up every month?
It really depends! Some months I don't spend a single crown, but other times I spend several thousand. I think my average would be someting like 500 crowns a month if I'd count how much a year vs. month.
PS. my skin does seem a little better, so soon I might want to show you a FOTD. I'm still thinking if I shoud show you my face without any make up at all. I think it's fun knowing how much difference make up can do!
A new search; the search for the ultimate foundation
Ok, after my first crush over MAC studio sculpt foundation I'm beginning to see its flaws. I've tried the foundation with and without primer under. Without primer and just MAC MSF "light" over it slips away as easily as... as a bar of soap in wet hands!
With the primer it's better, but the MSF isn't enough to fix it and keep it in place. I love the finish I get with studio sculpt without any powder on... but I need serious amounths of loose powder pressed in to it to be able to fix it! And I don't have oily skin (but my forehead does turn a bit oily during long days in front of the computer screen...which is basically every day).
So far I've tried the foundation with primer and loose mineral foundation as powder, with primer and MAC MSF, without primer and MAC MSF. So far the first option is the best... but I want to use my MSF because the finish looks much better.
I'm still not sure if it's true love or not. I need to find other ways of wearing the foundation. I won't let these 275sek be wasted!
I got the request to try the foundationn without primer and my experienced feeling wasn't great, but I want you to decide for yourself via pictures.... sooooo.... Next weekend my plan is to show you the difference between using primer and not, by doing half the face with primer and half without. And that's not just for face primer but also for eye primer. That'll probably look quite fun at the end of the day :P
I don't have a lash primer or a lip primer yet, but then I have another project in that saved for later.
Conclusion: a new search for the ultimate way to wear a foundation... has begun!
PS. I was at the Prodigy concert at Berns this thursday, if you
remember this FOTD. I can tell you that almost none of the make up survived that night.... or day! The eye make up was still there, though a lot less vibrant :P
The foundation and everything else was totally gone (including an upgrade to red lips) after an hour (or was it two?) in the moshpit.
