I don't care if Monday's blue

Inte helt i all fall. Jag har bestämt mig för att sluta blogga på engelska och istället blogga på mitt språk, som är svenska.
Jag har lagt in en länk till Google translate så att ni som inte förstår svenska fortfarande kan läsa bloggen.

What's up with this weird language written above?
Well, it's my nativ tounge. Swedish. I'm quitting to blog in english and will for a while blog in swedish instead. But, in case there are international readers I've added a Google translate-button so that you can, quick and easy, still read my entries! :D

<3 Love to you all! <3

Electroscene!

I've been dying to do this makeup. It's the only think I've thought about for two days. I love it, why haven't I done it before?
Sometomes I'm so silly.. like my struggle to not only do pink makeups these days.
The lips lok more pink than orange in the pics. It's because the lipglass holds pink glitter that bring out the pink tones in the lipstick. Looks a lot more orange irl, but you'll never know :(

Sleeping beauty

Yesterday my skin was in a terrible condition, so I picked up some Dermalogica samples to try out before buying lots and lots more of stuff. Got zone treatment and skin smoothing cream and a face mask that I don't know the name of. I went there only for the skin smoothing cream after talking to Åsa at the MA counter about my skin problems, and she told me the lack of a good moisturizer probably was the problem, and she got me a sample of MAC studio moisture fix to use before makeup and adviced me to get a sample of the Dermalogica skin smoothing cream to use at night.
The girl at the Dermalogica counter threw in the zone treatment and face mask as well and I tried them out in the evening before going to bed.
I overslept this morning in the grandest sleeping beauty manner to find that my skin's on the way of starting to love me again. Perhaps. I really really hope so. Buying everything necessary to get my skin back in shape would cost probably 2000 sek but that's a cost my savings account will have to take. If I don't feel good in my skin without makeup, I won't feel good with makeup on either.
I'm still in the fight for great skin!

Tested by Maggie: MAC prep+prime line filler

I know there are some of you that have been longing for this review. So... here you are! Haave a great weekend :)
So, I've had and used the MAC prep+prime line filler from the Colour ready-collection. All products in this collection are permanent, but some of them are new and launched in this collection.
So, how do I feel about the line filler then?

Texture and usage
The texture is silky but not quite smooth. The colour is white but dries to a transparent and very matte surface. It's quite easy to apply, but dries fast so you've got t work quickly.
The finished and dried texture is very matte and almost sticky. Not sticky wet, but sticky like "Hi! I'm glue and your finger likes to stick to me".
How does it work in the eye area?
I've been using prep+prime line filler under the eye, trying to eliminate the fine lines I have there. They're not really disturbing me other than when I do my makeup, because I just can't get an even makeup with these fine lines! And even makeup is a big thing for me :P
So, how has this worked out? Not at all, actually. I've tried rubbing it in, patting it on, brushing, blending, eyes open, eyes closed, looking up, looking straight forward, before face primer, after face primer, before day creme, after day creme... but nothing I do seem to help me getting rid of the lines and getting an even makeup.
How does it work on big pores?
Purity asked me: how does the line filler work with big pores?
And boy, let me tell you! The way it sucks on fine lines it totally makes up for disguising big pores!
I didn't believe it at first, so I had to try it on my sister as well, but it hides the pores perfectly!
I have nothing else to say but if you don't feel a great urge to show them off to everyone or accentuating them by putting makeup on top of them... then you need to get the line filler!
bare skin

How does it work with other primers?
I find it hard to combine with my regular MAC prep+prime face primer. If I use the line filler on top of my face primer, it doesn't dry. If I use it under my regular primer it starts almost peeling off, or eating all the primer. Why? Because it's so sticky!
Conclusion: don't use both in the same area.

How does it work with concealers?
I've only tried it out with MAC select cover-up concealer. It's a fluid concealer that you can apply with your fingers, sponge or brush. I've tried putting the concealer on top of the line filler with fingers and brush by stroking, patting or blending... but nothing works great to be honest. the easiest way to apply is by taking a very very small amount on my MAC #217 brush and patting it on on the selected area and then blending very very carefully.
What happens if you're not careful? Well, you start rubbing the line filler off, or it gets flakey stripey. Not a very nice finish.
line filler + concealer

How does it work with liquid foundations?
I've only tried the line filler with MAC studio sculpt foundation so far. How does it work? Well, exactly the same way as above, with the concealer. With or without concealer in between it doesn't make a difference to the finish. You have to be really careful. Haven't tried to apply the foundation with anything else but fingers (or the tiny #217 blending
brush, lol) but I bought the #187 brush today so I'll update the review as I have time to try this.
line filler, concealer and fluid foundation
line filler and fluid foundation
How does it work with loose mineral foundation?
This is my favourite way of wearing the line filler so far! Line filler where needed, prep+prime face on other areas and then loose mineral foundation on top. MAD minerals loose mineral foundation gives a nice coverage. Unless you have red scars or pimples this is the best way to wear the line filler. Nothing underneath and nothing heavy on top!
line filler + mineral foundation
Conclusion?
Trying it out on your hand is great. But I don't need the line filler on my hands, I need it in my face!
It really should be named pore filler, because that's (to me) the best way to use it. But pore filler wouldn't be a great name, now would it?

20% off on makeup brushes!

Go go go! Don't even read this but hurry to the MAC counter at Åhléns because Åhléns club members receive a 20% discount on all makeup brushes right now! Hooray! said I and bought the MAC brushes #187 and #214

I think the discount os on all makeup brushes, no matter brand, but I didn't see the sign at the MUS counter so I'm not sure. Anyhow, it's a great discount, so if you've thought of buying a MAC brush or two, now's the time :)

Fancy Friday FOTD! week 16

Today is a contrast to yesterday. Lots and lots of colour!
The images were taken in this weird mixed light, so the colours are a bit off, but I hope you can tell what they should have looked like. Will try to re-take the pis when I get home, if there's still daylight then.

Femme fi!

Yesterday I set out for the MAC counter again. This time to pick up the Lemon chiffon shadestick for me, some goodies for Rouaa and the Peppermint patti nail polish for Purity. Unfortunately NK had sold out of all (all and all, they got very few) PP nail polishes they'd got, and neither Åhléns or PUB had gotten any so Purity will have to live without it for now.
Unless!
Åsa, one of the MuA:s at Åhléns told me that you can mix the white MAC nail polish that came in the Hello Kitty-collection with a matte green one from MUS and create your own peppermint patti! :)

Anyhow, got hold of everything else. Except the Lemon chiffon shadestick, because I bought the ee shadow "femme fi" from teh BBR-collection instead, hehe. Looks like I got hold of another great highlighter ;)

The small jar is a sample of MAC prep+prime skrin refined zone.

Swatches and comparison will come later on! :)

Winner!

Inthemake is a great beauty blog that I read every day. A while ago Inthemake had seven different contests in celebration of her birthday. I won one of these seven and received this just before the easter holidays:

Eliabeth Arden intervene eye creme. How cool and luxorious isn't this?
Tried it out for the first time yesterday. What a nice feeling on my skin!

Fun n' games

Good morning everyone!
Today is a simple, bright and clean summery makeup. My skin's feeling a lot worse. Yesterday when I washed my makeup off it just started stinging and hurting like hell. I probably shouldn't wear makeup right now, but the way my skin look... I just can't go outside without any. Keeping at home, minimizing the makeup and washing it off as soon as possible will be my solution until the weekend when I kan keep at home, running and letting the skin breathe :)
So, todays makeup?

MAC shopping again...

Ok, I've already told you that I had to go to the MAC counter again this weekend. But I didn't show what I got or told you of everything I bought! :)

I woke up at my bf's place this saturday and saw that my skin looked... well, horrible! We'd been out running earlier that week and I forgot to wash off my makeup before we did and since my skin's been looking like hell. So I invented his small stash of makeup to see what I could find to improve my looks (my makeup was at my place, ofc).
I found only a tube of MAC select cover-up conealer (in NC20, too dark for me really) and MAC pro lash mascara that was of any use to me. Other than that I found a mineralize skinfinish, but no brush, and a studio fix foundation in NC20... too dark for me, and also studio fix clogs up my pores and upsets my skin even more, so I tried out the mascara and the concealer and ended up looking like this:

Pretty neat, this concealer! I thought and headed back to city, dragging my roomie/sambo Nath with me to get everything I needed from MAC, and some strawberries from the market.

Came home with the new prep+prime transparent finishing powder since I accidentally smashed my pressed blot powder to the floor on Friday. Also brought back the concealer mentioned above but in the lighter shade, NC15. Of course I needed something to apply the concealer with and asked Åsa, one of the artists at MAC Åhléns for advice. She recommended the  #217 blending brush, and I brought that home as well. I'm glad that I chose it, because it's GREAT for applying this fluid concealer. Also got the lipglass "Delicate crush" as a little freebie. Thanks a lot, Åsa! :D
I wanted Nath to have a look at a red paint I think would suit her, and then remembered I had to get a new mascara, so I headed back to Åsa and asked her to get me a MAC plush lash mascara as well. When I paid (130 SEK I think it was) she told me that MAC will raise the prices on their mascaras to 180-190 SEK!
Apparently Sweden is a bit behind on this price change, so hurry and stock up on your favourite mascara before they do! :)

When me and Nath had headed towards the market and strawberries, I remembered that I had forgotten the lemon chiffon shadestick, but I didn't dare going back a third time. The market was already closed, so I bought a pair of sun-glasses and then we went home.

Matchy matchy again

Today I'm matching my makeup with my dress, that has a print of flowers in black, pink, red, brown and blue. All colours are on the darker side of the palette. Not muted, just a little darker. Like fall fashion!

No smoke without party

I loved the smokey eye makeup I did this Saturday, it was PERFECT! I've never managed such a great smokey eye makeup before, and when I found these (rather crappy) pics I just had to share them with you :)
Products used:

Urban Decay promer potion

MAC eye shadow "sugarshot" from the sugarsweet collection (at  swedish counters 15:th of april)

MUS tribrow (medium and darkest colours used)

MUS eye shadow "celebration"

Lancôme liquid eyeliner

MAC plush lash mascara

MUS tribrow (lightest part) on brows

HM brow set

Q quick and easy guide to smokey eyes:

First I used the UDPP from lashes to brow and under the lower lash line. Then I brushed on MAC "sugarshot" from the crease and up to the brow, and also at the inner corner of the eye. Used MUS tribrow medium shade and vaguely formed the outlines of the form I wanted for the makeup. Then I filled in with the darkest colour on the whole lid, and blended the edges so that they didn't quite fill out to the previously used colour.

After that I pressed the loose eye shadow celebration from MUS onto the outer half of the lid and blended so it didn't quite fill out the edges of the previously used colours. Finished off by applying MAC shadestick in "sharkskin" under the eye and applying "celebration" on top.

Finished off by doing the brows, painting of the liquid eye liner and painting the lashed black :)

Summer day dreaming

Summery and matchy matchy because I wore a light blue t-shirt and a red skirt with this makeup :D
Less updates this weekend, because the weather has been so lovely. I've spent my weekend at the Tinitus festival, at the balcony, outside, clubbing or dining with friends. Great weekend!
Did a little shopping at MAC again because I accidentally smashed my powder to the floor and breaking it... Well! This is my Saturday makeup! Did the best smokey eyes for the evening but forgot to take pictures. Sorry!

I did some shopping this tuesday, but too late for me to be able to take some photos, and yesterday my schedule was full of other things... that's why you've hade to wait until today for the pics!

I'm not able to upload any more pics right now, blogg.se and I are having a quarrel about the uploading (we always are!) so the swatches will come later today :)
Stay tuned!

Favourite product right now:

My favourite products right now are:

Shadesticks!

Shadesticks are a creamy eye shaow in a pen form. Like a lipstick you just wind up the pen, or wihdraw it back into the packaging.

They apply easily, and work very well as they are or  as a base for your eye shadows. They can intensify your eye shadow, or bring out new shades from them, depending on the shadesticks colour and the colour of your eye shadow.

What I love so much are the variety of shades they come in, all the different ways to use them, and the best thing: the easy and user friendly packaging!

Images and swatches of the ones I have are to come, hold on! I need daylight ;)

Dirty gold

You all know me for my colourful makeup... but today I wanted to make a softer, natural look! No  surprise then, that I got bored before I was halfway done, and smeared on a lot of black!
Got my hands on some goodies from the MAC sugarsweet collection yesterday, and used the soft golden shadestick "cakeshop" in this makeup. Cakeshop is my perfect not brown gold that has cool grey undertones. It's perfect for every day makeup, or like this in a golden smokey eye makeup that's perfect for parties (unless you're like me and think evey day is hallow...eh... a party!)
Wanted to space out with colourful lips, but didn't feel like I have the right colour in my lippie collection so I ended up with a neutral pink.

Trade you!

I did a swap at Pret-ty.se with Rouaa. She got a few MAC pigment samples from me and I got this:

The lovely, lovely MAC eye shadow "cool heat". Also, she was sweet enough to send me a little freebie, a sample of Barry M dazzle dust 47. Thank you, Rouaa!
Can't wait to do a makeup with this new little darling :)

Finally!

It's really not that the delivery times at Lookfantastic.com are long. In fact, they're the opposite. Got my package three business days after the order... but I'm really slow when coming to actually placing an order!

But yes, now I finally did it. And what arrived? Two new primers (hello Sunday, hello versus!). One from Too Faced and one from Urban Decay (which is the one I usually wear).

Also, I bought the Dermalogica special cleansing gel and sebum clearing masque.
The special cleansing gel I got because the green gel cleanser I bought from MAC is a tiny bit too harsh on my ridicolously sensitive skin. I got a sample of the MAC cream wash when I bought the green gel cleanser and I LOVE it. It doesn't make my skin breakout or leave it dry, and it doesn't smell strongly of anything.

So why buy Dermalogica instead of MAC?
I already got the Dermalogica daily microfoilant which is a very gentle peeling (as gentle as they all should be) and I've been so satisfied with it. Not only has it lasted for more than a year and I still got 1/4 of it left, even thought I use it not daily but 2-3 times a week, but it's so great on my acne prone and super duper sensitive skin. So I wanted to try something more from Dermalogica, and I've read tons of great reviews on these two products (and the precleanse, but I couldn't afford that too) so I had to get them.
Luckily I got a small sample of the precleanse, so I can still see if I like it somewhat and if I'd like to buy a full size later on... like. In the summer, when hopefully I have a summer job.

Red monday

This is the anti-picknick makeup I think :P
The cool, silvery (almost liquid looking) MAC pigment "platinum" on the inner lid on top of the MAC eye shadow "yogurt", a sharp edge to the cold pink eye shadow "romping" from MAC that blends into the MAC pigment "basic red" that lies on the outer lid, in the crease, under the eye over the black MAC shadestick "sharkskin".
Red "adore it" lipstick (also MAC) on the lips and I'm ready to frighten all the monday tiredness-travelers on the subway ;D

The story and inspiration behid this makeup is that I woke up in the middle of the night, my left eye hurting so bad tears were streaming down my face. I looked in the bathroom mirror and tried to see what it was, but my eye was swollen, red like my makeup and I couldn't see a thing. I went back to bed, and when I woke up in the morning my eye felt a little sore, but ok. And it wasn't red, just a little bloodshot as usual (they always are). So I wondered if I had just dreamt the whole thing, and painted my eyes red.

Tested by Maggie: Eyeshadow primers

I'm starting a new theme today! From now on, every Sunday I'll bring you a VERSUS!
Comparing different products, brands or shades with eachother. What do you think about that?

Urban Decay eye shadow transforming potion

VERSUS

MAD minerals eye shadow sealant

Ok, so I showed off my glitter collection... but how do you really get the glitter to stick?
There are several products out there, but I'll guide you to the two I prefer and use.
The purple tube is Urban Decay eye shadow transforming potion. It's a clear fluid that comes with one thiiiiin brush and a wide, one in each end. To use it you simply dip the preferred brush in youd loose pigment/eyeshadow or glitter of choice and paint on.
Pigments and glitters work a little differently. Glitters just stick on, and I usually dab out small dots along the lashline/wherever I want the glitter and then stroke between the dots. Sometimes I need to fill up on the  eye shadow transforming potion, so I just dip the bush once again and paint on. But! Before dipping make sure there's no glitter left on the brush! Otherwise you'll end up with a multi coloured glitter liner :)
The instructions say dip the brush, and then paint.  At first I thought I could outsmart the instructions by painting on the eye shadow transforming potion and then press on glitter/pigments with my regular eye shadow brush... But doing this will leave you with glitter and pigment fallout. And lots of it. Don't do like me and try to outsmart this product. It's really great the way it is.
If you use it for pigment, and using it with pgiments is great when you want a different coloured eyeliner but you only got black liquid eye liner at home, make sure to wipe all the excess pigment on your hand/towel/paper so you don't stain the rest f the content in the bottle. And you can tell if there's smething left, since the brush is completely see through (yes even the bristles are made of clear plastic).
I still haven't found Urban Decay in any physical shops in Stockholm, so I order it online. I know many prefer Swedish online shops when situated in Sweden, but I really don't. Generally they're more expensive. I found this gold mine of beauty products: Lookfantastic.com. The shop is situated in the UK, so there's no risk for toll when ordering to Sweden :)
Urban Decay eye shadow transforming potion is (including shipping) £12.65 (approx 152SEK) at lookfantastic.com or 254SEK at blush.se
So, what's that small white bottle?
That's a sample bottle of MAD minerals "eye shadow sealant". It's really small, but lasts forever! You can use it to intensify your makeup or make eyeliner of your pigments or fasten glitter to your body.
You use it exactl the same way as with Urban Decays  eye shadow transforming potion, the difference is that you don't have a brush included in the packaging. Don't worry, any thin brush will do!
The sample bottle costs (including shipping) only $8 (about 72SEK) and for that price you could just as well throw in a couple of pigment samples for just $2.25 a piece, or a set of 10 samples (your choice of colours!) for $18.99 without increasing the shipping costs.
So, functions compared and prices compared. But! Before you order, check out the volume too. The Urban Decay eye shadow transforming potion holds 11.5ml and MAD minerals eye shadow sealant sample bottle holds 5ml.
Price per ml is (shipping not included):
MAD minerals eye shadow sealant (sample size) 2,70 SEK
MAD minerals eye shadow sealant (fullsize) 2,13 SEK
Urban Decay eye shadow transforming potion (from Lookfantastic) approx 10,40 SEK
Urban Decay eye shadow transforming potion (from Blush) approx 17,30 SEK
Which one is the best? I'd say they're equal, though Urban Decay might be slightly better especially because of the transparent brushes but also because it dires faster. If you're new to making your own eye liners or using glitters: go for MAD minerals eye shadow sealant. It's cheaper if you're just going to try it out. If you feel confident with it, you might want to try Urban Decay.
All shipping prices are counted on shipping to Sweden.

Drought

Today will be a rather empty day in the blog. I'm busy preparing for the release party of my class site:

www.53colors.com

So no FOTD today, but I'll take pictures of my makeup and share it with you tomorrow instead. Have a great friday night, and don't forget to check out the 53colors site when it's released tonight at 9pm!

Too dolly and Fun & Games swatches

Purity asked for a swatch of the beuty powder blush "Fun & games" from the MAC Hello Kitty-collection, and I remembered that I hadn't swatched the "Too dolly" palette for you, so here are some swatches!
All swatches are made on a base of Urban Decay Primer Potion, inclding the blush swatch.

On top is "Fun & games", a peachy/coral beauty powder blush shade with golden shimmer (heavily applied here)

Next is a patch of unswatched skin, and then the "Too dolly" palette starting with the matte and very pale "Yogurt". Really a yogurt shade! You can't even see it, it's as pale as the inside of my arm!
Next is the cool pink "Romping" that has blue and pink glitter to it. Great shade, and so easy to work with!

Under that is "Too dolly", which I used in this makeup but also here and here. I really think this is a great shade. On it's own it turs almost mint green, but combined with pink it was greyish turquoise, and with teal it really popped out and looked like poolwater.

Last but not least is "Stately black". It's black with blue and gold(?) sparkle.
It looks blue and gold in the pan, but on the skin it looks more silvery and blue, but shifts a lot. Sneaky colour, this is! Not least because it's a bit hard to apply.
It would rather turn dark grey and the glitter doesn't really want to stick. I recognize this behaviour from "forgery".

It's something about the "lustre" formula in MAC eye shadows that I don't like.
Beware! Always try these properly i the stores before you buy a lustre eye shadow.
I learned that the hard way ;)

Eyes aquatic

Today is turquoise!
Turquoise feels so much like spring, because it's in all the spring collections almost every year. And how tempting isn't that cool poolwater? Or that mediterannean sea?  Or those precious stones? My point exactly!
A little smokey and balanced with dark purple lips, dark purple that we always see in all fall collections, both makeup and clothes alike. Two faves of mine, combined in one makeup. Enjoy!

Hmm, couldn't get the lovely glitter to really show in these pics... the eye shadows are so vibrant in colour that my camera seem to not notice the glitter, but only the vibrant turquoise colours. Lovely! :P
I'll try to update later (when the batteries to my camera are recharged) with a new pic with flash or something. I really want to share the glitter with you!

My favourite product right now...

My favourite product right now is loose glitters. You might already have noticed, but I love to finish off a great makeup with a little glitter and bling on top.
Glitter to me is that little extra, for party nights, for cheering yourself up on a dull and grey day, for celebrating a great day. I'd say there's a glitter for every occasion, and I'd like to share with you the glitter content of my drawers. Brace yourselves!

Most of my glitters are from Taylor Made Minerals. All glitters vary a lot in size, and some are pure glitter, others are glitter mixed with pigment. Below are all the glitters swatched, I'll tell you what names and brands they are below the picture.

Freebies

Last time I was at MAC was when I did some heavy Hello Kitty shopping... and while I was at it I got a few freebies! Hooray!
The MUAs at MAC Åhléns are the best. No, honestly, freebies aside they're always helpful, cheerful and nice. They'll help yu find the right products and colours and try out anything you want.
So, got the last cremesheen glass "melt inyour mouth" because they'd just prepared it to be new tester when they saw there were no more so I got it. Also, when I got home I saw there, in my bag, that I got two sweeties fron the 2008 winter collection: Adoring Carmine!
Got two lippies from the "three red lips" part: Adore it lipstick (that I used here) and Frostlight lipglass.

Melt in your mouth is not red, not pink, not orange, but somewhere in between. Lovely!
At first I thought "Frostlight" was very much like "snowscene" but when I held them side by side I saw that they're nothing like each other. "Snowscene" has multi coloured glitter, "Frostlight" is pale silvery and white.
Adore it is the best of this lot. Used it in todays FOTD, and I'm inlove! Not pnik, not red, somewhere in between and rather sheer. Very shy to the camera, but the sweetest red there is, I tell you!

If you cand find "Adore it" somewhere near you or on maybe ebay, go for it! Will probably look great on anyone.

Don't panic, it's just red

Today I wanted to try out a new lipstick I got for free last time I was at MAC. It's not red. It's not pink. It's red with red and pink shimmers in the packaging, but on the lips... oh! what a lovely shade. I don't even know it's name, but it's a new favourite!
I thought of making a red and pink eye makeup to match, but it ended up red, black and gold. Ooops!
We'll see if I'll make the pink and red makeup tomorrow. It depends on what I feel like :P
